Get Off the Grid Festival would like to thank United Solar Initiative (USI) for their sponsorship and helping organize the Solar Energy Expo for this years Festival!
We take for granted how easy it is to plug in and access energy. We use it to power our phones and computers; light, heat and cool our homes; and, on a community level, obtain clean water and services like education and health care. But, worldwide, one out of seven people do not have access to energy. They use hazardous kerosene and open fires to light and heat their homes and cook their food. They are cut off from the riches of the World Wide Web. Night school is not an option.
Here in the U.S., there are people who simply cannot afford their electricity bills, as well as nonprofit organizations that want to trim their overhead costs.
United Solar Initiative is a nonprofit organization that combines sunlight, technology and collaboration to bring safe and reliable electricity to poor and isolated parts of the world. United Solar also makes energy more affordable for those who struggle to meet basic human needs for themselves and their families.
Even a little bit of electricity can change people’s lives for the better.
United Solar Initiative will be speaking about Off-Grid Solar in the Developing World on Saturday at 12:30
